We are a family business with experience dating back to 1974. Jim has worked with the Big Box Alarm Companies and wasn't able to make a quick decision to improve an Alarm System. In 1996 Jim and Cindy decided to start an Alarm Company to service our home community of Winona, MN. Greg, our son, started at 8 years old helping pick up wires for Jim and after 20 years is now the CEO and President of the Company. We are up-to-date on the latest technology and look forward to your call.
I have been working in the Alarm Industry for over 40 years beginning with training in the Air Force as an avionics technician. After the Air Force, I worked for 3M Alarm Service, National Guardian Alarm Service and Security Link from Ameritech. From each company I learned many things but the best qualities I took away and take pride in from each company are doing things properly and making a lasting system for each of my customers. I stay up to date with the changing technologies as well as Fire Protection and Supervision. With each install I enjoy working with each new and existing customer building a lasting relationship.
I originally obtained a degree as a Dental Assistant where I also received office management training. For the last 20 years I have been managing the office as well as helping work with Jim in the field. By helping Jim, I have learned how to operate alarm systems so I can better answer any questions. Recently, I have started to spend less time in the office to spend more time on my hobbies outside of work. But I still answer phones occasionally and come in to help in the office part time.
I have spent most of my life learning about the Alarm Industry from my dad and furthered my education by completing a degree in Electronics in 2011. Recently I also received my certificate for NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies). I also take continuing education courses to stay up to date with the licenses we have. In my spare time I like to keep up with the ever changing technology in our industry.
I am still pretty new to the Alarm Industry but I have spent several years learning some of the basics from Greg by going to trade shows and helping when I could. I have earned my bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Viterbo in 2015. I have recently taken over managing the office from Cindy. She has left me with large shoes to fill but I enjoy speaking with our customers on the phone and trying to answer your questions the best I can. If your questions get to difficult, I have a direct line to Jim, Greg and Cindy.
Although I might be young, my dad and Papa have made sure to get my training underway. Just a few of the things I have learned so far are to arm my parents alarm system, how to test a carbon monoxide detector, as well as test a medical unit.
She is our friend, our partner, our defender, our dog. We are her life, her love, her leader. She will be ours, faithful and true, to the last beat of her heart. We owe it to her to be worthy of such devotion.
